Paul "Raul" Johnson is a distinguished electric blues guitarist whose captivating performances and profound musicality have solidified his reputation in the blues genre. With roots deeply embedded in the rich heritage of electric blues, Paul draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Albert King, BB King, and Albert Collins.
Integrating a more modern approach, akin to Matt Schofield and Robben Ford, his unique sound blends traditional blues elements with his innovative style, creating an engaging auditory experience for his audience.
As a founding member of The Rusty Nails Blues Band, Paul played a pivotal role in shaping the group's sound and identity. His expertise and passion for the genre have led to numerous performances across various venues, including the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival.
In addition to his work with The Rusty Nails, Paul has collaborated as a duo with acclaimed artist Chris Martin, further showcasing his versatility and collaborative spirit.
Paul is using his latest project, Killin' Floor, to widen his repertoire and also write his own material. Alongside vocalist and partner Regan Owens, he continues to push the boundaries of the electric blues genre.
